Die Feigensorte Black Madeira gilt weithin als die schmackhafteste, die man finden kann, und umgibt sich unter Feigenzüchtern und -sammlern mit einer gewissen Faszination. Die Feigen reifen spät (September/Oktober). Sollte der Topf im Winter vor Frost geschützt oder nach dem Laubfall in einem kühlen Keller gelagert werden. Die erste Frucht wird im Jahr 2027 erwartet.
