Lizard is one of the most unusual and adventurous albums in King Crimson’s catalogue: a dense, jazzy, surreal journey that stands apart from everything the band did before or after. It’s also the only King Crimson album featuring Gordon Haskell as the main vocalist, giving it a very distinctive character compared to the Greg Lake and John Wetton eras.
The cover is legendary in its own right: four Beatles are hidden within the medieval‑style artwork, subtly illustrated into the ornate lettering, a playful, almost secret nod embedded in the design.
Musically, Lizard is a wild fusion of prog rock, chamber music, free‑jazz chaos and delicate pastoral passages. The “Lizard Suite” on side B is one of Robert Fripp’s most ambitious compositions, featuring complex arrangements and guest appearances from top musicians of the era (Jon Anderson of Yes or Keith Tippett on piano).
This reissue sounds perfect, it's full of detail and dynamics and accoustic passages are stunning. You won't be disappointed!
