Selling my Yamaha EX5.
Are you tired of sitting outside in the sun and just want to play in the dark with synthesizers?
Good news! I'm selling my Yamaha EX5 flagship workstation. I recently acquired this beast but quickly realized that a massive 76-key instrument takes up a bit too much space in my central Zurich flat, and have gone back to my EX7.
If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know what the EX5 is capable of. It is a late-90s powerhouse that features four distinct synthesis engines under one hood:
- FDSP (Formulated Digital Sound Processing): An incredibly unique physical modeling/mangling engine (famous for water, tornado, and seismic effects).
- Polyphonic AN (Analog Physical Modeling): Yamaha’s brilliant virtual analog engine (with 2-voice polyphony on the EX5, unlike the monophonic EX7).
- VL (Virtual Acoustic): The legendary physical modelling engine for breathtakingly realistic wind and string instruments.
- AWM2: Yamaha's classic, punchy sample-playback architecture.
Condition
- Technical: 100% fully functional. The internal floppy disk drive has been tested and works perfectly. The screen is clear and easy to read, the high-quality 76-note keybed plays beautifully, and all audio outputs, pitch wheels, and modulation wheels function flawlessly.
- Note on the Data Wheel: The main jog/data wheel registers every single click accurately, but it is physically a bit stiff to turn. It works entirely fine as it is, but I want to be completely transparent.
- Cosmetic: Standard, normal wear for a 25-year-old studio piece.

- Pickup: Collection only in central Zurich (8003). Because of the size and weight of this flagship workstation, shipping is not an option.
