The UE Boom doesn’t work perfectly. Between roughly 50-100% of the maximum volume, the bass sounds slightly off, so it’s not ideal if you want to play music loudly while maintaining the best sound quality. The price has therefore been reduced accordingly.
Ideally, I recommend doing a live test of the Boom before buying. That said, it is still perfectly usable and the issue does not make the speaker useless :) I was still using it regularly, but I recently received a Megaboom, so I no longer need it.
