The Classic DAC comes equipped with 16 (8+8) 32-bit Hyperstream™ DAC circuits connected in parallel to achieve low noise and phenomenal linearity. Its Sabre 9038PRO chipsets are manufactured by ESS. In addition to direct DSD signal processing, a new proprietary processing algorithm performs analogue conversion of PCM data at a resolution of 36-bit, resulting in a rich, smooth and delicately detailed sound quality. The performance improvement offered by this principle, exclusive to Eamlab, results in extremely low output signal noise levels – an achievement that is very difficult to attain with conventional delta-sigma converters.
Each channel features separate, stabilised and well-filtered power supplies, placing the product at the heart of a specific dual-mono circuit architecture. This is the only way to achieve dynamic transparency and channel separation of the very highest standard. The output stage, for its part, is entrusted to our renowned HDCAs, which have proven their effectiveness on numerous occasions.
CIRCUIT TOPOLOGY
Designed with a balanced topology from input to output, each channel is powered separately and all power supplies are stabilised and perfectly filtered.
The design of printed circuit boards using SMD technology enables a high level of rejection of vibrations induced by external sources, resulting in a significant reduction in ‘microphone effect’. This leads to a greater level of detail and improved focus on the soundstage and individual instruments.
The transformers are resin-impregnated to minimise magnetic induction in sensitive amplification circuits, thereby improving sound contrast and reducing background noise. As part of our ‘native symmetrical’ philosophy, even the asymmetrical signals from the RCA inputs are converted internally. The HDCA sections handle this delicate task, thereby increasing the dynamic peak factor by approximately 3 dB compared with traditional preamplifiers that do not utilise this circuit design.
HDCA is a buffer and output signal amplifier that delivers powerful direct current transmission.
The ability to transmit current at high speed is the most important factor. It is the ability of a circuit with an analogue output to transmit the wide dynamic range of a musical signal without loss. The substantial resources invested in the output buffer amplifier circuits significantly extend the limits of performance as line drivers. Characterised by high current output capability, these high-performance components boast an exceptionally high signal slew rate of close to 500 V/µs, indicative of their remarkable response speed.
The top-tier buffer circuit configuration features four modules for the RCA outputs and two circuits each for the + and – terminals of the XLR outputs.
By maximising its ability to deliver instantaneous current output, the Classic DAC reproduces the full dynamic range of music with breathtaking realism.
