AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE BALINESE LOW TABLE – SOLID TEAK WOOD – TRADITIONAL INDONESIAN FURNITURE
An exceptional and authentic antique Balinese low table, crafted from solid teak wood, featuring a beautifully aged surface, substantial construction and remarkable natural patina.
This is a genuine piece of traditional Balinese furniture with an interesting history, rather than a modern reproduction or an item manufactured for the export market.
The table was purchased in Bali during the 1970s directly from a local family who had used it for generations. Its previous owner, a Balinese woman, used it as a traditional market stall to display and sell her goods, sitting on the raised wooden platform as was customary locally.
The table was subsequently transported to Europe, a considerable undertaking given its generous dimensions and substantial weight.
Its beautifully weathered teak surface displays decades of natural wear, rich grain patterns and distinctive marks that give the piece an extraordinary character. The traditional joinery, solid construction and simple architectural lines make it equally appealing in rustic, minimalist, contemporary or sophisticated interiors.
A truly unique statement piece, ideal as a large coffee table, low display platform or decorative centrepiece.
