In the 1980s there was no such thing as a "trade paperback" but you did have comic digests, however. DC got into the act, as well. By the mid-eighties, Marvel joined the party, albeit with trepidation. Fortunately, what they did publish in digest form were their licensed properties, including their superstar, The Incredible Spider-man.
