In Rolex's long and rich history, few models can lay claim to such renown as the Datejust. Born in 1945, the model has seen many variations and combinations of cases, bracelets and dials. Reference 16234 is the first Datejust to have had sapphire instead of plexiglass, offering a little more resistance and a slightly more modern look than previous references. As is often the case with these neo-vintage Rolexes, the watch is a good mix, offering the strength and precision of a modern watch while retaining the aesthetics and wearability of the vintages.

This particular piece, with its silver dial, fluted white gold bezel and jubilee bracelet, remains probably the best-known and most sought-after version, thanks in no small part to its versatility. The fascinating dial has gained a stunning beige/champagne patina with time. It varies from a more or less strong colour depending on the light, giving it a lively, dynamic appearance on the wrist. The indexes and hands are in tritium, which has gained a charming patina over time, adding to the vintage side of the watch.

The overall condition of the watch is excellent. It is the perfect starting point for a collection and a must-have for any serious watch enthusiast.
