Up for sale is a Monome 128 Grid (Variable Light edition) purchased around 2015.

This unit was very rarely used and has been stored safely in a smoke-free studio environment. Visually and cosmetically, it is in mint/flawless condition with clean silicone pads and an unmarred enclosure.

Hardware & Testing Status:

This unit has been completely tested prior to listing using Max 9 and the official Monome diagnostic patch (monome-device / grid-test):

• Buttons: All 128 silicone keys respond instantly and reliably with zero sticky pads or missed keypresses.

• LED Matrix: Every single LED works 100% across the entire 16 x 8 grid matrix.

• Variable Brightness: Multi-level brightness levels (variable light intensity) were independently tested and function perfectly.

Honest Disclaimers & Notes for Buyers:

• Cable Note: Requires a USB Mini-B connection. The included aftermarket USB cable is verified for both power delivery and full serialosc data communication.

• Vintage PWM Coil Whine: Like almost all Monome Variable Light models from the 2012–2015 era, the unit emits a very faint high-frequency whine when the entire LED matrix is fully illuminated at max brightness. This is standard Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) hardware behavior for this generation of grid and does not affect performance or longevity.

• Software: As with all Monome hardware, the grid requires serialosc (free background driver available at monome.org) to communicate with Max/MSP, Max for Live, Norns, or your DAW.
