An elegant and unusual decorative glass bowl by Hutschenreuther, Bavaria, Germany, retaining its original Hutschenreuther “1814 – Germany Bavaria” paper label.
The generously proportioned bowl is made of warm, softly tinted transparent glass and decorated with a striking composition of stylised irises and flowing foliage. The floral design is executed in muted shades of dusty rose, mauve and soft beige, enriched with extensive gold-coloured detailing.
The sinuous stems, elongated leaves and strongly stylised flowers show a clear Art Nouveau / Jugendstil revival influence, giving the piece an elegant decorative character while remaining characteristic of later 20th-century design.
Particularly attractive is the contrast between the transparent glass body and the almost graphic floral decoration: depending on the light and viewing angle, the ornament appears either delicate and translucent or richly defined against the warm glass.
The original Hutschenreuther paper label remains attached, identifying the piece with the historic Bavarian manufacturer.
