Drinking Window: 2025 – 2049. Vibrant and intense colour in the glass, richly scented, floral and perfumed, open and inviting. Intense and concentrated, the fruit is dark and ripe but there’s no hint of over ripeness here and instead you get cool blue fruits, chalky tannins and minty freshness with accents of liquorice, coffee, tobacco, cedar spice and clove. Tannins are clearly at the fore, giving the structure and the frame while the juicy acidity gives the energy and life. Still on the serious side, not tense so much as there’s good persistence, it’s lean and streamlined, but refined in a spiced and mineral way. Gorgeous terroir markers, lovely detail and precision, you can feel they haven't worked too much or tried too hard. It carries the signature of the estate in the serious structure, it’s a big wine, there’s such power here but so well controlled and delivered. Razor sharp, focussed and persistent. A gorgeous 2022, well executed and will be a clear success. 97/100

Ein wenig reduktiv offenbart das Bouquet von Batailley Tiefe, Nuancen von Graphit, schwarzen Beeren, Süßholz und dann auch erfrischende Noten von Eukalyptus und Minze. Also eher klassisch, aber konzentriert und präzise! Am Gaumen entwickelt sich der Wein stufenweise mit Finesse und Präzision. Die Tannine bilden das Rückgrat auf optimale Weise und tragen den gesamten Gaumen mit sich, während eine feine Herbheit für Temperament und Frische sorgt. Ein außergewöhnlicher Wein, wie immer, bin ich versucht zu sagen!

This has to be the best wine from Batailley in fifty years and will be a benchmark for the estate. Superbly bright, deep, juicy and precise. The palate shows great density as well as freshness. The finish is extended by a delicately salty touch. 96-97/100

VVWine über: Chateau Batailley 5eme Cru
Tiefdunkel, rauchig, mit Schwarzbrot, Süssholz, Tabak, Heidelbeeren, Brombeeren und Tee, ein sehr vollständiges Bouquet. Im Gaumen dicht, cremige Textur, sensationelle Frucht, feinkörninges Tannin, die Struktur hamoniert hier sehr gut mit der Frucht, der Wein zeigt Eleganz und eine sehr sehr gut Länge, endet rotfruchtig. Ausgesprochen hochwertig und einmal mehr ein Wein, der dieses Jahr mit 'schwarzem Label' erscheinen wird. Great Value! 95-97/100
