Polyphonic MIDI-to-CV interface
The 1983 is a polyphonic MIDI-to-CV interface with creative voice assignment and automatic tuning function.
Everything is tuned and responds correctly to MIDI notes.
Four channels with CV and GATE outputs can be configured in various layouts, such as hybrid splits between monophonic and polyphonic voices or velocity, control change, aftertouch, trigger, clock or reset.
Automatic voting
Each channel can listen to simple oscillator waveforms, and with a single press of the TUNE button, the 1983 maps the response of each connected oscillator across all seven octaves. This ensures that all oscillators are tuned to each other and respond correctly to MIDI notes (A4 = 440 Hz, etc.). PURE MAGIC!
CV inputs
The TRANSPOSE jack shifts the outputs by semitones, fifths or octaves, and the PORTAMENTO jack sets the glide time via CV.
The 1983 always stores the notes played in a legato sequence in a buffer, and the WINDOW jack allows the selection of which of these notes appear at the outputs.
When the UPDATE socket is used, the outputs are only updated when a trigger is detected.
In this way, you can use a MIDI keyboard as an input interface for harmonies and musical notation, which can then be creatively processed further in the modular environment using triggers and CV.
Quantizer
The 1983's four-step quantizer mode converts input voltages into semitones of scales defined either by playing notes into the MIDI input or by using the menu buttons. This allows the 1983 to be used as a tuning correction device (quantizer) without the need for MIDI.
Micro-mood
The standard tuning is A = 440 Hz in equal temperament, but alternative tuning systems are possible with the µTune function. It allows working with user-defined detunings for each semitone in the octave, thus enabling accurate intonation and alternative tuning systems.
