This auction is for a rare, never released Stem Player (SP-1) that Teenage Engineering developed for Kanye West’s album Jesus is King. The device is made from precision-machined aluminium and follows the iconic TE design language. Eventually a completely different (worse) plastic version of the Stem Player was released to the public, leaving a couple of already manufactured SP-1 production samples for distribution.
The stem player allows playing and mixing songs with 4 different channels (e.g., guitar, bass, vocals, drums) using the faders and effect buttons. The device can be synced with other TE music gear (Pocket Operators) over MIDI output. The device is preloaded with the JIK album, but custom songs can be uploaded over USB-C.
