Neuwertige Doppel CD im Digipack
The Keith Emerson Band featuring Marc Bonilla was a progressive rock project formed by legendary keyboardist Keith Emerson (formerly of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) and guitarist/vocalist Marc Bonilla in the mid-2000s. The collaboration was widely seen by critics and fans as Emerson's most significant return to his classic "prog-rock" roots since his peak years in the 1970s. [1, 2, 3]
Core Studio Album
The band released one eponymous studio album, Keith Emerson Band featuring Marc Bonilla, in 2008.
- Key Work: The album is dominated by a 35-minute multi-part suite titled "The House of Ocean Born Mary", inspired by a ghost story both musicians had read as children.
- Style: The music combines the flamboyant, "bombastic" keyboard style of ELP with a more modern, guitar-driven hard rock or AOR influence provided by Bonilla.
- Track Highlights: Notable tracks include "Ignition", "Marche Train", and a cover of Alberto Ginastera’s "Malambo".
Band Members
While primarily a partnership between Emerson and Bonilla, the recording and touring lineups included notable session musicians:
- Keith Emerson: Piano, Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer.
- Marc Bonilla: Lead vocals, 6 and 12-string guitars.
- Gregg Bissonette: Drums (studio album).
- Bob Birch: Bass (studio album).
- Travis Davis: Bass (touring/live).
- Tony Pia: Drums (touring/live).
- Hungary (2006): Often included as bonus material on special editions of the studio album.
Following Keith Emerson's death in 2016, Marc Bonilla has continued to lead the Official Keith Emerson Tribute Concert band, which includes former members of this project like Travis Davis and Jonathan Sindelman, performing Emerson's compositions as a tribute to his legacy.
