An ode to Parisian chic
“When you think of a famous French perfume from the last century, it is without a doubt a chypre.”
From the early 20th century onward, the chypre accord was the height of fashion in Parisian society and has since been considered the epitome of classic French perfumery. In fact, the chypre note has existed since the 16th century, but it wasn't until the "Roaring Twenties" that this fragrance became fashionable in Parisian society.
Chypre 21, however, presents itself as a 21st-century accord. However, the key ingredients of the classic French chypre—bergamot, rose, patchouli, sandalwood, and oakmoss—have been masterfully reworked by James Heeley into a clean, modern unisex fragrance.
True to the classic French chypre, the accord is perfectly balanced, so that no note is more dominant than the other. The fragrance leaves a wonderful, slightly nostalgic trail, with a certain atmosphere of Parisian chic that would have perfectly suited Grace Kelly, Jackie Onassis, and, of course, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
