Vacation in Mexico: Alex Summers (Havok) and Logan (Wolverine) are on a break in Mexico, getting into a bar fight and making a bet to see who can go longer without using their mutant powers.
Soviet Sabotage & Manipulation: They become entangled with a manipulative operative named Scarlett McKenzie (Quark) and Soviet rogue villains (General Meltdown and Dr. Neutron) who are trying to derail Mikhail Gorbachev's reforms.
The Betrayal & Fake Deaths: Scarlett drugs Havok, fakes Wolverine’s death using plague-laced bullets, and tricks Havok into believing Wolverine is brainwashed. This leads to a staged confrontation where a disoriented Havok fights and believes he has killed Wolverine.
Showdown: Wolverine survives, tracks them down, and rejoins Havok. Together, they confront General Meltdown, who attempts to absorb massive nuclear energy. Meltdown accidentally kills Scarlett, and Wolverine and Havok defeat him by safely venting the reactor's energy.
