With the "Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU)", the FBI has a special unit of experienced profilers whose job it is to forestall the worst criminals before they can strike again. The main character is Special Agent Jason Gideon, who is returning to BAU after a long break. Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner heads the department, who always tries to reconcile his family life with his job. Together with their five colleagues, they cover all areas of modern profiling, and they repeatedly succeed in penetrating the psyche of criminals and foreseeing their next steps.
