Antique gold Baroque candlestick or lamp
This ornate candlestick was remodeled into a lamp. You can use it as a lamp, or take the lampshade and use it as a candlestick.
The candlestick reflects the Italian Baroque tradition of ecclesiastical furnishings, likely dating from the 19th century when such pieces were created for churches, chapels, or wealthy households seeking to emulate religious grandeur. The elaborate carved and gilded design, featuring scrolling acanthus leaves and a tripod base with rococo influences, exemplifies the craftsmanship of Italian woodworkers who specialized in liturgical objects. These altar candlesticks were often produced in pairs and placed on church altars or side tables to hold large ceremonial candles during religious services. Such pieces are highly valued by collectors of ecclesiastical art, antique lighting, and Italian decorative arts for their historical significance, intricate craftsmanship, and ability to add dramatic elegance to both traditional and contemporary interiors. They appeal particularly to those interested in Baroque and Rococo design, as well as collectors seeking statement pieces with religious or cultural heritage.
Condition
The candlestick is in great condition with only one little flaw (see pict). To use it as a lamp, the cables have to be reattached. Otherwise, you can use it as a candlestick.
The lampshade also has some flaws, but they are only visible from the inside.
